Driver involved in accident at Buangkok junction 'assisting in investigations': Police

The driver who was caught on camera knocking down a pedestrian at the junction of Buangkok Green and Buangkok Drive on Sunday afternoon, is being investigated by the police.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said on Tuesday that the female pedestrian had been conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital with minor injuries. She was discharged on the same day. The police confirmed that the driver is "assisting with investigations". The Straits Times understands that the pedestrian is in her 60s, and the driver is a 45-year-old woman.

Video footage captured by a camera mounted in a vehicle, which was stopped along Buangkok Green, showed a silver-coloured Honda hatchback turning right from Buangkok Drive onto Buangkok Green, before hitting a woman with an umbrella who was crossing the road. The lights appeared in favour of the pedestrian.

The video was posted on citizen journalism website STOMP on Monday afternoon. The person who sent in the footage said the elderly pedestrian seemed to have lost consciousness after the accident. He added that the windscreen of the car was smashed.
