This holiday season shoppers on Orchard Road will be able to navigate their way around the shopping street with the help of a new digital map that can be downloaded onto their mobile devices.

Launched by the Orchard Road Business Association (Orba) on Tuesday, the Orba Walking Map gives users step-by-step instructions on how to get from one place to another using underpasses and shortcuts linking the malls.

User have to enter their starting point and destination based on building names and common landmarks such as MRT stations. The map is available with the free @Orchard app.

This year's Orchard Road Christmas light-up, with a blue and white winter wonderland theme, will take place from Nov 23 to Jan 5. President Tony Tan Keng Yam will be the guest of honour at the light-up ceremony held at Shaw Urban Plaza at 6pm on Nov 23. Activities along the road this festive season include mass carolling, a Christmas concert and a best-dressed building contest.
