Difficult for maids in Singapore to get loans legally

SINGAPORE - Licensed moneylenders have stopped offering loans to maids in recent years.

This followed changes between 2018 and 2019 that put an end to ads targeted at them, capped loans at $500 for those making less than $10,000 a year and limited the number of foreigners they can lend to in any year to 50.
