SINGAPORE - Since May 20, a container ship carrying 25 tonnes of highly flammable nitric acid has been burning off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The X-Press Pearl, a Singapore-registered ship, carried raw materials for cosmetics, such as ethanol and other lubricants.
