SINGAPORE - The damage on a fence found last week at an Ang Mo Kio bus depot was caused by a motor accident, police have said.

It was reported in The Straits Times on Nov 15 that a large rent was found in the fence of the bus depot last week, but there was no breach to the SMRT depot's perimeter fence, SMRT had said.

The Land Transport Authority said that the fence covered the grass verge between the perimeter fences of SMRT's bus depot and the adjacent SBS Transit's depot.

Coming on the heels of two cases of vandalism on SMRT trains this year, there were suspicions that the fence had been cut.

However, police investigations have revealed that the damage to the fence was due to an unreported motor accident.

The motorist is currently assisting police in investigations, police said on Thursday.
