Cyclist suffers injuries in accident with garbage truck at Toa Payoh HDB block

SINGAPORE - A 49-year-old cyclist suffered injuries in an accident with a garbage truck at a Toa Payoh Housing Board block on Wednesday morning (May 23), with the man's daughter posting an appeal for witnesses on Facebook.

The police said they were alerted to the accident involving a truck and a bicycle on the service road of Block 155 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh at 8.40am.

The man was conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The Straits Times understands that the truck was making a turn when the collision occurred. The man was coming from the left of the truck.

On Thursday, the man's daughter, Ms Nur Raudhah, appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward on Facebook.

In the Facebook post, she said that her father is now fighting for his life as "he has multiple rib cage fractures on both sides of his body and injury to his lungs".

Police investigations are ongoing.
