Cycling enthusiasts put the brakes on OCBC Cycle

Grouping riders according to their standards, more signs and road marshals stationed at critical points - these are some ways the OCBC Cycle event can be improved according to cycling enthusiasts here.

Comparing the annual event to other closed road cycling events, Mr David Au from local cycling group West Coast Riders felt safer in races like Tour de Bintan. He said that riders at the event are more experienced and observe the proper etiquette.

After the accident on Sunday which led to the death of National Serviceman Chia Wee Kiak. Mr Au is reluctant to take part in next year's OCBC Cycle.

"I am hesitant to take part again unless we are reassured that ample precautions have been taken for such rides in future" said Mr Au.
