SINGAPORE - A secondary school teacher appeared in court on Monday (Feb 12) to face 20 charges of sexual penetration of a minor from his school.
The 39-year-old Singaporean is accused of having sex with his 15-year-old student, with her consent, at a flat in Ang Mo Kio. He also allegedly sexually abused the girl.
He is not being named to protect the girl's identity.
The accused, who was wearing a blue top and dark trousers, allegedly had sex with the girl 10 times in August and September 2015.
The accused's lawyer Ravinderpal Singh told District Judge Christopher Goh that he had just been briefed and will be making representations.
Bail of $25,000 was offered and his passport was impounded.
If he is released on bail, he must not contact the alleged victim directly or indirectly, or any prosecution witnesses.
The maximum penalty for the offence is 10 years' jail and a fine on each charge.
The case will be mentioned on March 8.
