SINGAPORE - A security officer who sexually abused a 14-year-old girl on four occasions was jailed for 10 months on Thursday (Dec 15).

Muhammad Sukri Hamzah, 22, admitted to two counts of sexual penetration of a minor at his flat in Jalan Batu on Aug 2, 2016. The remaining two charges were taken into consideration in sentencing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Chee Ee Ling told the court that the victim, a Secondary 1 student then residing in a children's home, came to know Sukri via Facebook sometime in April 2016. They entered into a relationship after that.

Sukri knew that she was younger than 16 when he engaged in sexual activities with her.

On Aug 1, after the victim had ended school, she absconded from the home and met Sukri at his workplace at Changi Airport. This was the first time they met.

They took a train to Pasir Ris MRT station to help his colleague move some items. The two had dinner before taking a smoking break.

The victim felt dizzy after smoking. He then took her to his home where she stayed over for the night.

At about 1am, he woke her up and engaged in sexually intimate acts before he asked her to perform oral sex on him. She complied.

Later that morning, Sukri left for work while the victim spent the rest of the day at Sembawang Library before meeting him at Paya Lebar MRT station. They returned to his flat and went to bed.

They were lying on the bed when he committed the second sexual offence. She had declined to have sex with him. After engaging in more sexually intimate acts, the two fell asleep.

The victim left the house on Aug 4 and was sent back to the home by her aunt and uncle. She told her aunt and later the police about her sexual activities with Sukri.

He was arrested on Sept 18, released on police bail but failed to turn up at the police station on Sept 30.

A police gazette was issued for his arrest. Sukri was eventually re-arrested on Oct 17.

Sukri, whose sentence was backdated to Oct 19, could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined on each charge.
