Police arrests 23-year-old for suspected involvement in loansharking

SINGAPORE- Police arrested a 23-year-old man for suspected involvement in loansharking activities on Wednesday.

The suspect, arrested at Allenby Road, is believed to be a debtor-turned-harasser who had assisted loanshark syndicates in other cases of harassment in Woodlands, Ang Mo Kio, Yishun, Defu Lane and Whampoa public housing estates.

In these cases, the suspect is believed to have harassed the debtors by splashing paint on their units, padlocking the main gates with bicycle locks and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the wall.

Bicycles locks, paint and marker pens were among the items seized in connection to the case. The suspect will be charged in Court on Friday.
