Parallel car importer salesman charged with criminal breach of trust of $415,000

SINGAPORE - A sales representative of a parallel car importer was charged on Tuesday (Nov 15) with misappropriating $414,564.

Chua Peng Jun, 23, a Malaysian, allegedly committed criminal breach of trust of the amount belonging to Royal Automotive between May 17 and Nov 9.

According to a police statement on Monday night (Nov 14), police received several reports against a local car dealership company for failing to deliver automobiles to their customers after receiving sales deposits.

After extensive follow-up investigations, Ang Mo Kio police arrested the suspect on Sunday (Nov 13).

The suspect is believed to have collected sales deposits amounting to $414,564 and issued fake invoices to the customers.

Chua was remanded for a week for investigation, and will appear in court on Nov 22.

If convicted, he could be jailed for up to 15 years and fined for criminal breach of trust as a servant.
