SINGAPORE - A 56-year-old man who groped a spa receptionist while he was drunk and naked was on Wednesday (Nov 23) jailed for one week.
Ng Hong Chua pleaded guilty to a single charge of molestation.
A district court heard that Ng went to the spa in Tampines at about 2.50am on Oct 14 last year.
He told the receptionist that he had made a booking earlier and registered for a one-hour massage session. The victim cannot be named to protect her identity.
While she was escorting him to a room on the second floor, Ng told her that he was drunk and grabbed her arm and asked her to support him up the stairs.
Once they got to the second floor, Ng also placed his hand around her waist. She did not stop him as she did not want to be rude and was also afraid, the court heard.
The receptionist took Ng to a massage room and told him to change into a pair of shorts provided by the spa.
As she was about to walk down the stairs, however, Ng called out to her and asked for a new pair of shorts.
Shortly after, she opened the room's sliding door slightly to pass him a different pair of shorts.
But Ng, who was completely naked, grabbed her hand, slid the door open and pulled her into the room.
He then pulled her closer to him and kissed her left cheek.
The receptionist pushed Ng away and he let go of her.
As she was about to leave the room, however, Ng grabbed her hand and pulled it towards his private parts and indicated that he would pay if she performed a sexual act on him.
The victim told Ng that the spa did not provide such services and pulled her hand away, before leaving. She told her boyfriend and her employer what Ng had done.
After his massage ended, Ng offered the receptionist some money, but she refused to accept it.
The penalty for using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person is up to two years' jail, a fine, caning, or any combined punishment.
