Man suspected of office break-in at Lower Delta arrested

SINGAPORE - A 31-year-old man who is believed to have broken into an office at Lower Delta Road has been arrested, police said.

Police said a break-in at an office located at Block 1092, Lower Delta Road, was reported at about 5am on Sunday (Aug 14).

After investigation by the police, a suspect was identified and arrested at Potong Pasir Avenue 1 on Wednesday evening.

If convicted of housebreaking and theft by night, the suspect can be sentenced to between two and 14 years in jail.

The police advised property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures against break-ins:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks before sleeping or when leaving your shop or home unattended, even for a short while;
  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in commercial premises; and
  • Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
