SINGAPORE - A 40-year-old Singaporean man was charged on Saturday morning with the murder of 32-year-old Vietnamese woman Tran Cam Ny in an Ang Mo Kio flat.

The accused, Lim Hou Peng Jackson, had his head bowed and appeared solemn as the charge was read to him at the State Court.

Lim will be remanded for psychiatric investigation.

He will appear in court again on Dec 12.

Lim was arrested on Thursday after police were called in for assistance. He was found in his two-room flat with the dead woman.

Neighbours said they heard a loud commotion hours before the arrest.

If convicted, Lim faces the death penalty or life imprisonment, and if not punished by death, is liable to caning.
