Man charged over stabbing of wife in Bedok home

A 46-year-old man was charged yesterday with voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon. He had allegedly stabbed his 48-year-old wife in the abdomen at their home at about 7am on Friday.

Police got a call informing them that a woman was injured at a residential unit in Bedok South Avenue 3. The victim was later taken to hospital.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, she was found, by her 19-year-old son, sitting on a chair in the living room with the knife still lodged in her abdomen. She has two other sons, aged 17 and 12.

Following inquiries by officers from the Bedok Division, the man was in custody within 12 hours.

The Sunday Times understands that the accused was charged while in hospital. Anyone found guilty of voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons may face life imprisonment or a jail term of up to 15 years and a fine or caning.
