Man arrested in Pasir Panjang for suspected theft and trespassing

SINGAPORE - The police arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of theft and trespass in Pasir Panjang on Friday.

They had received a call at about 1.45am from a member of the public who had spotted a man climbing over the gate to the compound of a private residential property along Chwee Chian View. Officers from Queenstown Neighbourhood Police Centre detained and arrested the suspect when they arrived at the scene.

Preliminary investigation found that the suspect had trespassed into two private residential units in the estate. He is also believed to have tried to steal valuables from an unlocked vehicle parked in one of the units.

The police seized several shopping mall vouchers, which the suspect could not account for, from his home. He will be charged in Court on Saturday for the offence of criminal trespass and attempted theft.
