SINGAPORE - A 22-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in an attempted snatch theft along Jalan Pelikat park connector near Hougang Avenue 1.
On Tuesday (July 26) at about 5.18am, a 62-year-old woman reported that an unknown man came from behind on a skate scooter and attempted to snatch her gold necklace.
In a news release on Friday, police said the victim held on to her necklace and shouted, causing the man to release his grip and flee from the scene.
Following investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Blk 174D Hougang Avenue 1 on Thursday at about 6.10 pm.
The offence of attempted snatch theft is punishable with imprisonment of up to seven years and/or caning.
