A Malaysian man was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint on Monday for failing to stop for immigration clearance, in the fourth such case this year.

Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers caught the 33-year-old allegedly trying to drive out of the Checkpoint while undergoing checks at about 10.45am, after he had been unable to produce his travel document at the arrival car counter.

ICA said the alarm was activated and the arrival car zone was locked down immediately.

"The car was stopped within the Checkpoint and the driver was placed under immediate arrest," an ICA spokesman said.

The authority is investigating the incident.

Eight days earlier, another Malaysian man tried to tailgate a car at the Woodlands Checkpoint to get into Singapore. He was also arrested after the area was locked down.
