Lucky Plaza mobile phone retailer raided for suspected illegal moneylending to maids

SINGAPORE - A mobile phone retailer at Lucky Plaza, which has been selling vouchers that maids can use to remit money back home, is being investigated for illegal moneylending.

The practice effectively went around new borrowing caps meant to protect low-income migrant workers here.
