Long arm of the law catches up with alleged molester, 1½ months after offence

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 23-year-old man - a month and a half after he allegedly molested a woman in Choa Chu Kang on April 1.

The man, who was arrested on Thursday, is expected to be charged in court next Monday for outrage of modesty. The offence carries a maximum penalty of two years, a fine and caning upon conviction.

At 6pm on April 1, a 20-year-old woman lodged a police report saying that she was molested at a block of flats at Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4, said the police in a statement on Friday. Officers from Jurong Police Division and the Police Public Transport Security Command collaborated to solve the case, upon receiving information that the suspect was last seen at Choa Chu Kang MRT station.

They managed to identify the suspect through police cameras installed at the block, and on Thursday, he was finally arrested at Choa Chu Kang Central.
