113 suspects nabbed in anti-drug operation

A total of 113 suspected drug offenders were arrested in a four-day operation which started on Monday, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said yesterday.

The drugs seized included 53g of heroin, 88g of Ice, 13g of cannabis, 182 Ecstasy tablets, 10 Erimin-5 tablets and 19 LSD (Lysergamide) stamps.

The islandwide operation by the CNB and police covered several areas, including Bedok, Bishan, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong, Rivervale, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Woodlands.

Investigations are ongoing.


Three arrested over duty-unpaid cigarettes

Three men, aged 24 to 57, were arrested for allegedly smuggling duty-unpaid cigarettes into Singapore during a joint operation by police and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

At 1.45am yesterday, police coast guard officers and the ICA conducted checks on a vessel in the sea off Jurong Port, and found 960 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes worth more than $117,000.

The total duty evaded exceeded $91,000 and the goods and services tax evaded exceeded $8,200.

Investigations are ongoing.
