Fourth man charged with St James Power Station murder

SINGAPORE - A fourth man was hauled to court on Thursday (March 16) for his alleged involvement in the St James Power Station murder.

Muhammad Faizal Md Jamal, 22, was charged with murdering Mr Satheesh Kumar Manogaran, 35, at the Sentosa Gateway entertainment venue between 5.45am and 6am on Sunday (March 12). He was not represented.

Muhammad Faizal and three others are accused of being part of a group who killed Mr Satheesh Kumar who was found with stab wounds that morning.

Shawalludin Sa'adon, 26, a part-time waiter at the Postbar - one of the outlets at St James Power Station - was charged with murder on Tuesday.

Muhammad Khalid Kamarudin, 21 and Muhammad Hisham Hassan, 27, were charged on Wednesday.

Police released a statement on Tuesday saying they arrested Shawalludin on Sunday itself.

Officers later established the identities of three other men involved and nabbed them in an operation the next day.

Preliminary police investigations showed the attack took place following a dispute between Mr Satheesh Kumar and a staff member at Postbar.

Court documents and the police statement did not disclose the identity of this staff member.

Police arrested a fifth man, Muhammad Faizal, on Tuesday.

Muhammad Khalid and Muhammad Hisham are represented by lawyer K. Jayakumar and Shawalludin was unrepresented when he stood in the dock on Tuesday.

All four men are now remanded at the Central Police Division and will be back in court next Tuesday (March 21).

If convicted of murder, they will face the death penalty.
