Four women arrested for housebreaking and theft

SINGAPORE - Four women, aged between 22 and 31, were arrested by the police for housebreaking and theft on Thursday.

They are believed to be involved in a series of cases reported in the vicinity of Dempsey Road and Tras Street in Tanjong Pagar.

Police received reports of restaurants and offices being broken into this month. In some of the cases, the CCTV cameras on the premises captured images of the culprits. Officers from Tanglin Police Division conducted ground enquiries, and two of the suspects were arrested on Queensway on Thursday. The other two suspects were caught later in the day.

If convicted, they could be jailed for up to 14 years.

Police advised the public to secure their office premises with good quality doors and locks, and install a burglar alarm, sensor light or a CCTV camera on their properties. They should also keep valuables and large sums of cash in banks.
