Despite being cancer-stricken, a woman facing cheating charges amounting to some $1.6 million wanted to have a trial to clear her name rather than accept a discharge not amounting to an acquittal.

But four months after she was issued the discharge not amounting to an acquittal, Ms Satwant Kaur, 49, died.
