Five men arrested for allegedly robbing victim of mobile phone and $800

SINGAPORE - Police arrested five suspects who are believed to have committed robbery after assaulting a victim near Desker Road.

On Nov 30 at about 11.55pm, a 27-year-old victim made a police report and said that he was robbed of his mobile phone and about $800 in cash. He was walking along Desker Road when he was confronted by the suspects who then assaulted and robbed him.

Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested the first suspect along Changi Business Park Street 3 on Tuesday.

Through follow-up investigations, the officers arrested the remaining four suspects in the vicinity of Syed Alwi Road and Cantonment Close. The victim's stolen mobile phone was also recovered. If convicted of robbery with hurt, they face a jail term of up to 20 years and may be given at least 12 strokes of the cane.
