Expatriate charged with punching jazz singer

SINGAPORE - An Australian national claimed trial on Thursday to punching a jazz vocalist on the face in Sentosa.

Peter Aaron Jeremicjczyk, 38, who is a Singapore permanent resident, allegedly caused hurt to Ms Dawn Ho, 34, at the Beach Station in Sentosa for its light rail system Sentosa Express, at about 9.20pm on March 9 this year.

The alleged assault is believed to have been sparked off by an incident involving a limousine taxi.

Jeremicjczyk was then working in the marketing department of a restaurant. He has found another job in the food and beverage industry.

He is represented by Mr Shashi Nathan, Mr Montague Choy and Ms Tania Chin.

Mr Nathan said his client intends to claim trial and asked for an early trial date.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Tuesday.

The maximum penalty for causing hurt is two years' jail and a $5,000 fine.
