Singapore- More than two years after she was charged in 2012, City Harvest Church (CHC) finance manager Sharon Tan said on Friday she still does not know why.

Responding to a question from the lawyer of another church official who is also on trial, she laughed a little as she said: "With all the understanding that I had all this while, your Honour, honestly I don't know why I have been charged."

Defence lawyer N. Sreenivasan, who is representing founding member and senior pastor Tan Ye Peng, was taking his turn at cross-examining Ms Tan.

Tan, who turned 39 yesterday, was on the stand the whole day under questioning by Mr Sreenivasan and former church fund manager Chew Eng Han before him.

Tan, Chew, senior pastor Tan, and three others including church founder Kong Hee face charges for their part in allegedly misusing some $50 million of church funds for the secular music career of Kong's wife, Ms Ho Yeow Sun, and then covering it up.
