AGC rebuts don's criticism over disciplinary probe of 3 lawyers

The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has defended its decision to refer three lawyers to the Law Society for a disciplinary tribunal probe, a move criticised by a National University of Singapore law professor in a law journal article.

Professor Jeffrey Pinsler, a senior counsel, argued that the AGC had referred the trio based on the observations of a High Court judge on the manner in which they had conducted the witness preparation sessions in a 2014 trial but "appears not to have taken into account the judge's clear statements that he did not find that the (three lawyers) had breached any rules of ethics".
