95 suspected drug offenders nabbed in CNB's four-day islandwide sting

SINGAPORE - A total of 95 suspected drug offenders were arrested in a four-day islandwide operation spearheaded by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

Supported by the Singapore Police Force, the operation - which began on Monday (Oct 9) morning and ended on Friday morning - netted about 370g of heroin, 90g of Ice and over 100g of cannabis.

Some of the areas covered included Ang Mo Kio, Geylang, Hougang, Sembawang, Simei, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Yishun.

In one case on Monday evening, a 52-year-old male Singaporean suspected drug trafficker was arrested in the vicinity of his Sembawang Drive residence, and two straws of heroin were found.

In a pouch which he had discarded when attempting to evade arrest, CNB officers found about 90g of heroin.

At his residence, about 150g of heroin and over 50g of Ice were found.

Later at another hideout in the same vicinity, officers recovered 17g of heroin, 29g of Ice, three digital weighing scales and an improvised drug-smoking apparatus.

The total value of the drugs seized from the suspect is estimated to be over S$35,000.

Investigations into the drug activities of all those arrested are ongoing.
