SINGAPORE - A total of 68 drug offenders were arrested in an islandwide operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) from Monday (July 3) to Friday morning.
Drugs worth $29,375 - about 461g of synthetic cannabis, 48g of cannabis, 303g of heroin, 40g of ice, 98 Ecstasy tablets, 74 yaba tablets, five erimin-5 tablets and one LSD stamp - were also seized, CNB said on Friday.
The areas covered by the operation, which was supported by the police, included Bedok Reservoir, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Chai Chee, Punggol, Tampines and Woodlands.
In one case on Wednesday night, CNB officers arrested a suspected synthetic cannabis trafficker near Haig Road.
A search of the 41-year-old male Singaporean's residence in the vicinity recovered about 96g of the drug, together with two digital weighing scales.
In another case on Wednesday afternoon, a suspected heroin trafficker was arrested in the vicinity of Bedok Reservoir Road.
CNB officers searched the unit that the 42-year-old male Singaporean was operating from and recovered about 240g of heroin, a digital weighing scale and numerous empty plastic sachets.
Investigations into drug activities of all suspects are ongoing.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, those convicted could face the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine, or pure heroin, trafficked is more than 15g.
That amounts to 1,250 straws, sufficient to feed the addiction of about 180 abusers for a week.
