31-year-old man arrested for robbing 5 teens in Hougang

SINGAPORE - A 31-year-old man has been arrested for robbing five victims and assaulting one of them in Hougang.

The Straits Times understands that the five victims were a group of teenagers.

They had been walking along Hougang Avenue 3 on Friday (Oct 13) morning when they encountered the suspect at a void deck.

He allegedly slapped one of them and demanded money from the group. He then took about $70 from them in total, before slapping the same teenager again and asking them to leave.

The teenagers made a police report.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division investigated the case and identified the suspect. They arrested him within 12 hours.

The suspect will be charged for an offence of robbery with hurt.

If found guilty, he can be jailed between five and 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
