200 police reports against database firm

Businesses unaware of having signed up for Data Register's services told to pay up

Some 200 police reports have been filed against a database firm this year by business owners who said they did not know they had signed up for its services.

Data Register has sent letters and debt collectors to at least 500 businesses it claims owe the firm up to $2,450 each for services rendered over the past five years.
