2 men nabbed for outrage of modesty in unrelated cases

SINGAPORE - Two men were arrested - one within two hours of his alleged victim lodging a police report - on suspicion of committing outrage of modesty.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a release on Friday (June 2) that a 57-year-old man was arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman, 27, along Hougang Street 61 at about 2.20pm on Thursday.

The victim later lodged a police report at about 3.50pm.

The man was nabbed by officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division at 4.50pm, after extensive ground enquiries and review of police camera footage, the police said.

He is also believed to be involved in another similar case, the police added.

In an unrelated incident, another man, 26, was also nabbed on Thursday for outraging the modesty of a 24-year-old woman along Bukit Batok West Avenue 6 last Wednesday.

The police said that the victim reported at 10.38am that she had been molested by an unknown male person earlier that morning, while walking along the common footpath of Bukit Batok West Avenue 6.

The man was arrested along Bukit Batok West Avenue 3 after officers from the Clementi Police Division established his identity with the aid of extensive ground enquiries and police camera footage.

If found guilty for outrage of modesty, both men can be jailed for up to two years, receive a fine and be caned.
