SINGAPORE - A joint enforcement operation held from Monday (Sept 11) to Tuesday yielded the arrests of 19 people - 14 men and five women - for a variety of offences.
The 20-hour operation was jointly led by the Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Central Narcotics Bureau Enforcement "F" Division, and supported by officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Checks were conducted at residential units in Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Yishun, Sengkang, Serangoon and Yio Chu Kang as parts of ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal activities, the three agencies said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
Two massage establishments were also found to have breached licensing conditions, with one of the two also breaching fire safety rules and regulations.
Of the 19 arrested, five men and a women were nabbed for drug-related offences.
Four woman were arrested under the Provision of the Women's Charter. Preliminary investigations revealed that the quartet were believed to have advertised sexual services via online websites and operating within the residential areas.
Cash amounting to $100 and five handphones were also seized.
Lastly, nine men were arrested when the operation busted a gambling den operating within a food centre.
Investigations against all the suspects are ongoing.
