16 arrested for drug-related offences in joint enforcement operation

SINGAPORE - Sixteen people were arrested for drug-related offences after a 17-hour joint enforcement operation which began on Tuesday morning.

Officers from the police, Central Narcotics Bureau and Singapore Civil Defence Force conducted checks at public entertainment outlets and Housing Board estates in Ang Mo Kio, Yishun, Hougang, Punggol and Sengkang.

Besides the 16 arrests, one public entertainment outlet was found to have breached the Public Entertainment and Liquor Licensing Conditions. Another five were found to have breached the Fire Safety Rules and Regulations.

Investigations against those arrested are ongoing, according to a joint statement issued on Wednesday night by the three agencies involved.
