SINGAPORE - Immigration officers found 1.4kg of heroin and 1kg of cannabis in a lorry that was trying to enter Singapore on Friday.
The Malaysian-registered lorry was carrying consignment of 23 pre-stressed planks, which are large concrete slabs used in construction, when it tried to pass through the Woodlands Checkpoint.
Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers conducting a routine check on the vehicle found the drugs hidden within its trailer cabin. The haul of drugs is estimated to be worth $130,400.
The driver, a 27-year-old Malaysian man, as well as the drugs seized, were referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
