SINGAPORE - Fourteen women were arrested for employment-related offences in a two-day police raid against massage parlours and public entertainment outlets.

The police said in a statement on Wednesday morning (Feb 14) that the women are between the ages of 27 and 44.

During the operation on Monday and Tuesday, officers from the Central Police Division conducted a series of enforcement checks on massage parlours and public entertainment outlets in Chinatown, Jalan Besar and Jalan Bukit Merah.

Two massage establishments were found to be operating without valid licences, while another two had contravened licensing conditions, the police said.

In one of the cases, a 36-year-old woman was caught working illegally at one of the unlicensed massage establishments.

She was arrested under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

Thirteen women were arrested for working without a licence at a public entertainment outlet.

The police said that action will also be taken against the outlet's operator for contravening licensing conditions.

"The police take a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take a tough enforcement stance against such activities," the statement said.
