The High Court has ruled on the copyright to transcripts of oral history interviews with Mr Lee Kuan Yew conducted in the early 1980s.

The court agreed with the Government that Mr Lee's right to give permission for access, copies and use of the transcripts was personal to him, and it was not his intention for the rights to vest in his estate after his death. It ruled that the estate has copyright to the transcripts, but only for the purpose of ensuring that the Government complies with the terms of an agreement Mr Lee had signed on the interviews.
