SINGAPORE - One woman was approached by a salesperson from an electricity retailer who took her NRIC and did the paperwork to switch her contract from supplier SP Group without her consent.
Another found herself locked into a 36-month contract after handing her NRIC to a sales agent to check if she was eligible for a 30 per cent discount on her electricity bill.
