SINGAPORE - A construction worker was killed and two others were injured when a third-storey platform they were working on collapsed.

The accident happened at construction firm M+W Singapore's worksite at Pioneer Turn, near Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, on Wednesday.

The three workers fell from the platform which had been installed over a stairwell, the Manpower Ministry (MOM) said in a statement.

MOM said a Chinese national was pronounced dead by paramedics. The other two workers, from China and Bangladesh, were taken to hospital.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted at about 9.40am and sent a fire engine, a Red Rhino, a fire bike and two ambulances.

The ministry is investigating and has ordered all work to stop at the site.
