SINGAPORE - The Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet, Admiral (ADM) Scott Swift, making his first official visit to Singapore, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) on Thursday.

A Mindef statement said the visit underscores the excellent and long-standing defence relations between both countries and between both navies.

Both navies interact regularly through a range of activities, including visits, professional exchanges and exercises.

"Such interactions enhance both navies' professionalism and bolster mutual understanding and friendship between their personnel," Mindef said.

ADM Swift, who is in until Friday, had earlier called on Chief of Defence Force Major-General Perry Lim and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Lai Chung Han.
