COI findings show need for all soldiers to take safety seriously

Stronger safety culture must be ingrained in servicemen at all levels, across all vocations

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen's ministerial statement to the House yesterday on an inquiry committee's findings into the death of actor Aloysius Pang was the fourth such statement on national service training deaths that he had given in the past year.

Four training deaths had occurred in the space of 17 months, affecting public confidence in the adequacy of measures in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to keep Singaporean sons safe.
