The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized about 920g of heroin at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Thursday morning, in the first large drug haul of the new year.
At 5.20am, officers from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority referred a Malaysian man who was riding a motorcycle to CNB for checks.
CNB officers conducted a search on the 25-year-old and found two bundles of heroin, worth about $97,000, on him. One of the bundles was tucked in front of his lower abdominal area while the other bundle was found tucked into the back of his trousers.
He was subsequently arrested and investigations are ongoing.
