CNB operation leads to seizure of nearly 1kg of heroin worth $94,000

An operation mounted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in Bukit Panjang on Friday led to the arrest of two suspected drug traffickers and the seizure of about 900g of heroin, estimated to be worth more than $94,000.

In a statement on Friday night, CNB said its officers spotted the first suspect, a 25-year-old Singaporean man, driving into a multi-storey car park in the area at about 1.55pm. Shortly after, officers saw the second suspect, a 52-year-old male Singaporean, getting into the vehicle driven by the first suspect.

Officers proceeded to tail their vehicle when the duo drove off.

The men were arrested by officers at about 2.10pm along Dairy Farm Road when they briefly stopped their vehicle. Besides the heroin, a small amount of "Ice" was also found in the vehicle.

Both men are being investigated for drug trafficking, said CNB.

If convicted, they may face the death penalty.
