CNB nabs 113 after three-day drug bust

In a three-day islandwide operation that ended Thursday, officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 113 suspected drug offenders and seized over $57,000 worth of drugs ranging from heroin and Ice to Erimin-5 and Ecstasy tablets.

The anti-drug efforts were conducted in areas including Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Beach Road, Clementi, Geylang, Haig Road, Jurong, Marsiling, Toa Payoh and Yishun.

In one operation, officers arrested a 38-year-old suspected drug abuser after he met up with a 51-year-old suspected drug trafficker they had been observing. About 7.5g of heroin and 79 Erimin-5 tablets were seized from him. Another group of officers then arrested the suspected trafficker as he was about to return to his flat. About 97g of heroin, 5g of 'Ice', $2,066 and a digital weighing scale were seized from his Kim Keat Avenue flat.

Other operations included a raid on a Beach Road drug den and arrests at hotels in Chinatown. CNB said the operations were part of ongoing intensified enforcement efforts to curb illicit drug activity on the streets.
