Clementi sinkhole: LTA conducting scans below area for possible cavities

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is investigating the root cause of the sinkhole along Clementi Road that reopened on Friday, an LTA spokesperson said. It is conducting scans below the part of the road where the sinkhole appeared for any possible cavities.

A report was made on the reopened sinkhole at about 1.10pm on Friday. The sinkhole first opened up on Monday on the second lane of Clementi Road towards Pasir Panjang. It was repaired on the same day.

A motorcyclist was injured when he tried to avoid the sinkhole.

The affected lane has now been closed off to facilitate inspection and repair works. According to the LTA, the other lanes remain safe and passable to traffic.
