Claim by Facebook user Gary Ho: Hawkers have to pay "exorbitant" table cleaning charges after signing the contract.

Response: NTUC Foodfare said that cleaning fees went up after a new contractor had to be found through an open tender, after the previous contractor went missing in June last year. The centre's Hawker Association eventually picked the winning bid, and hawkers were told of the new charges a month before they kicked in at the start of this year. Drinks and juices stalls now pay $513.60; pastries, kueh and snacks stalls pay $374.50; and cooked food stalls pay $588.50. The previous fees were $350, $250 and a range of $420 to $450, respectively.
