Chua Chu Kang and Tampines residents gather for Community Sports Festivals

Hundreds of Chua Chu Kang residents took a dip in the pool on Sunday morning for activities such as a water telematch, a mass swim and a tug-of-war at the Choa Chu Kang Sports and Recreation Centre.

They were taking part in the Community Sports Festival organised by the community sports clubs from Chua Chu Kang GRC and Hong Kah North SMC.

The event was launched by Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and about 2,500 people attended the festival which also had activities such as zumba and tai chi. Also present were other advisers to Chua Chu Kang grassroots organisations, Dr Amy Khor, Ms Low Yen Ling, Mr Alvin Yeo, Mr Zaqy Mohamad and Mr Alex Yam.

Over in the east, the Tampines GRC Community Sports Festival was held at Tampines Junior College. Thousands of Tampines residents along with several hundred pre-school children from Darul Ghufran, My First Skool and Tampines GRC PCF and their parents, did sporting activities such as rock climbing, field hockey and lawn bowling. Education Minister Heng Swee Keat and other advisers to Tampines grassroots organisations, including Mr Masagos Zulkifli and Mr Baey Yam Keng, also took part in the event.
