A construction worker was killed on Wednesday morning after the formwork structure he was standing on toppled and fell to the ground.

The accident happened at a construction site at the junction of Sims Drive and Aljunied Road, where a light industrial building was being built. The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call at about 10am requiring ambulance assistance.

The worker, a Chinese national in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Work at the site has been stopped. The police and the Ministry of Manpower are currently investigating the death.
