Residents and former rivals praise retired opposition leader's achievements, character

When upgrading work was being carried out in Potong Pasir in 2016, efforts were made to retain certain features of Potong Pasir Neighbourhood Park, given the significance it holds for Mr Chiam See Tong, who was the area's MP for 27 years.

Mr Sitoh Yih Pin, the area's MP now, told The Sunday Times: "When we upgraded the park in front of blocks 136 and 140, I gave strict instructions to preserve his plaque and his two lions at the entrance.
